High Current 1500V Combiner Series
The Shoals High Current Combiner series is used to combine multiple strings per circuit up to a 60A fuse size. This means a more than 50% reduction in return cables over a traditional combiner box.
Lab-proven under full load during static heating sequence testing with fuses installed, the High Current Combiner is designed for maximum durability and years of uninterrupted, real-world service. Field installation time has been slashed, space for cable terminations generously increased, and O&M torque points reduced by up to 41%.

Horizontal Fuse Arrangement: Shoals uses horizontal busbars to run fuses and connections. Since heat rises, vertical fuse arrangements can lead to excessive heat build-up around the fuses at the top of the combiner, reducing the current rating and increasing the risk of blown fuses. Shoals’ horizontal arrangement dissipates heat more evenly, minimising heat build-up and drastically reducing thermal events.
Fiberglass Box: Shoals uses a rust-proof fibreglass box, while other boxes on the market are often metallic and prone to rust. Powder-coated metal boxes can chip if handled roughly, creating opportunities for rust formation.
Spacious Box: Some designs in the industry provide minimal space for wiring inside the box. Shoals ensures ample room for output wiring, allowing proper spacing between input and output busbars and accommodating flexible wire bends.
Parallel Wiring: Most Shoals combiners support parallel wiring, offering enhanced system flexibility.
Breather Vent: The breather vent on a Shoals combiner box provides the highest flow rate available, ensuring superior ventilation.
Stainless Steel Lockout/Tagout: The disconnect handle on a Shoals box includes a stainless steel lockout/tagout hasp, designed to resist corrosion and breakage for lasting durability.
Higher Capacity Bus Bars: Shoals combiners typically feature busbars with higher current capacity, enabling better heat dissipation and cooler operation compared to standard designs.
